Why is the clone of a variety important?
Every grape variety has different clones with different qualities.
The fruits of high quality clones carry the typical characteristics
of the variety while inferior quality clones may give more fruit at
the expense of lower quality. Now that wines are evaluated in terms
of color, taste and aromas, those clones that can carry the typical
characteristics of a grape to its wines in the best way, are
considered to be more successful.
In order to produce wines of high quality, you should select your
grapes among prime quality clones.
What are the clones of the varieties in Ergenekon
Vineyards and nursery?
Our clones are only A class clones.
I want to grow grapes with high yields. For me,
quantity is more important. Which of your clones may serve my
purpose?
Unfortunately, we can not offer you any of our plants. We only sell
low yielding clones with prime quality grapes.
Now that you produce high quality plants, are your plants
more expensive than the others in the market?
No. Although we concentrate more on quality, we keep our prices at
market average.
I have heard that it is possible to buy vines from France
and Italy for 1 Euro. Why should I prefer you?
If you also take into account the duty tax and freight, the cost
approaches to 2 Euros. But our real difference is in quality. The
large nurseries of the west produce tens of millions of plants per
year while we only produce 100 - 150.000. We should also mention
that the subsidy given to vineyards established with certified
plants (which is 250 TL/decare) is only valid for plants produced in
Turkey. Other nurseries in the country do not pay attention to
clones. If you are after quality, you should prefer us.
Finally, we are the only nursery that guarantee the purchase of your
grapes produced with our plants.
Can we buy by small amounts?
