Ergenekon Vineyards was founded in the year 2000 by
Dr. Çağatay Ergenekon, a financier, and Dr. Şeyla Ergenekon, an
environmental economist and wine writer, on the Gallipoli Peninsula with the
purpose of contribution to Turkey’s viticulture by producing good quality grapes
and vine plants. There are a total of 30,000 plants on 125 decares of land which
consist of top quality, “A class” clones of the world’s best known wine grape
varieties and main wine and table grapes of the Thrace region. Based on research
carried out throughout the vine regions abroad and in Turkey on the selection of
quality grapes and clonal selection among these varieties, a collection has been
formed in the Ergenekon Vineyards with the top quality clones of especially wine
grapes, that reflect the varietal characteristics in the best way.
Our rich collection has been presented to the use
of country’s viticulture and wine production by the production of grafted vines.
This production is realized by applying the most developed methods under the
supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, very valuable
academicians and agricultural engineers.
Ergenekon Vineyards is also giving free of charge
consulting service to those who want to grow grapes on various subjects like
soil analysis, selection of grape varieties and rootstocks, equipment and
spraying advice, state subsidies for vineyard establishment etc.
Ergenekon nursery claims to be capacity-wise the
smallest but quality-wise the most reliable nursery of Turkey with the highest
product standards. The most important factor that distinguishes Ergenekon from
the foreign and domestic nurseries is the guarantee that we give to purcahse the
grapes of the vines we have sold in return for 1 USD/kg with the condition that
they are above 25 brix and that the vintners apply the pruning and spraying
methods recommended. The risk of not being able to sell the agricultural
products at the price they deserve, is one of the most important problems of
Turkish farmers. This solution is an answer to the uncertainty faced by Turkish
vintners and means that Ergenekon Vineyards will always be supporting its
customers by forming a a win-win system for the creation of a sustainable
viticulture.
